A sovereign Zulu state.

Yes, there is a group campaigning for a sovereign Zulu state. Several groups, in fact. No, the IFP or Zulu royal house are not spearheading the movement this time but common folk like you & I.

Whether it would be wise for the Zulu royal house or the IFP to involve themselves in a movement campaigning for a sovereign state is unclear. But they, the IFP & royals, obviously do know of the movement/s & I assume are prudent enough to know when or when not to side with such movements.

What may have seemed like a joke to many initially has become a viable concept for the development of Zulu people & their land. Other groups in South Africa might find this selfish & that view is understandable but then that must mean Lesotho, Swaziland & Botswana are selfish. Argument ended.

While most of these movements have likely not been to see His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini, a delegation from a Durban-based group was said to have been sent to discuss the concept with iSilo samabandla so that the Great One himself knows of the happenings in his land.

IS IT REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN?:

Well, this depends on the discontentment of the people & their will to determine their destiny. The legal procedure involves a referendum which would likely be done by the Independent Electoral Commission.

HOW IS A ZULU STATE OF THE FUTURE GOING TO LOOK LIKE?:

Well, one movement called I. Y. I. L. E. ( Inhlangano Yokugqugquzela Izwe LakwaZulu Elizimele ) has an online presence & has proposed a system in how the land could be successful after independence. But ofcourse, the current leaders in power as well as a few other groups will likely contest for power so a monarch becomes increasingly more important to prevent a possible civil war among groups. But we hope that in future, Zulu territory will not look like the current disappointment under the present ruling government & will have some practical solutions to ensure the people of the land live in dignity & not so much in eternal ridicule as in South Africa.

OBSTACLES:

Some chiefs might disagree with how the Zulu state was formed so might contest for their former chiefdoms & former micronations so will have to be ensured security by some sort of federal feudal system.

In the end, whether this proposed state fails or succeeds or ever gets independence is up to the Zulu people as a whole & not some individuals.
