A layman take on modern football...

Image
Football is an activity most of us in the world grow up with, it's just something that always is there. It is fun to play, simple to understand & the whole world loves it. A lot of people feel world football has become too monetized & has less beauty or romance in it today. Most footballers today are academy graduates when most footballers of times past were found while playing on the street or at school with already existing talent. The problem, I feel, with academy graduate football is that it's robotic & almost too rigid & a lot of academy graduate players play as they were taught & not on impulse so they lack spontaneity & the game loses a little magic that way. Academy graduates almost lack character in the sheltered environments of their academies. I feel, modern football has made the coach & the tactics the focus & that may be a good or bad thing depending on the characters involved but I think there should be some give & take. Both th

Namuhla sihlangene nezindaba ezithi unkosikazi waseShayina u- Xiaomei Havard uzothatha isihlalo sikaMnumzane u-Jackson Mthembu (osanda kudlula ngenxa kakhuvethe) ephalamende laseNingizimu Afrika. Abanye abayifuni lendaba ngoba bebona amaShayina afuna ukufika lapha e-Afrika khona ezosiphatha. Owami umubono uthi, uma abaholi bethu eNingizimu Afrika abangabantu abansundu behlezi begxekwa ngokungaphathi kahle izwe, yini kunganikezwa abanye abangenza ngcono? Ngakho-ke mina, ngifuna ukuyibona imisebenzi ka-Xiaomei Havard lona esikhundleni sobuholi. Ngifuna ukubona ukuthi angenza ngcono na. Uma engayazi into eyenzayo, akhonjwe umnyango. Asisanakwenza lutho ngoba nanka amaShayina afike ayimbumba eNingizimu Afrika.   Ngapha inkampani yaseShayina, i-Huawei, iyavalwa eMelika ngoba kuthiwa isebenzisa amafoni ayo ukuthi ibheke ukuthi abantu benzani eMelika; ngapha amaShayina afuna ukuphatha amazwe khona lapha e-Afrika ngokukweletisa abaholi bethu izimali abangeke bakwazi ukuzikhokhe

Should Africa create it's own operating system?

I'm one of the people that clicked accept on WhatsApp's new privacy laws & already knew that I'd be sacrificing my privacy even more than I was already doing before. Android is the most used operating system in the world today, it probably eclipsed Microsoft's Windows in the early 2010's. Microsoft realised that smartphones are reaching the capability of common Windows PCs & went into the smartphone market with the Microsoft Lumia. They dabbled in the cellphone market before the Lumia project with HTC & other cellphones that used Windows Mobile OS but the Lumia became the standard Microsoft smartphone product around 2010. The Lumia gained some popularity but I'm guessing that Android was winning the race & the Microsoft Corporation had to pull out. Most popular operating systems today "spy" on the users, operating systems & device manufacturers alike "spy" i. e. collect personal data of their users. Now, most people who kn

Dear white people: The Natalian version

There's already been an open letter called " Dear white people " before written by some opinionist online which gained a little popularity on social media, I've read the open letter a bit & wasn't that inspired by it frankly. I'm writing this version of " Dear white people " as a guy that has mostly lived in KZN my whole life, has studied some world cultures & languages & understands South African history & this land's modern culture. I have lived among black, white, coloured & Indian groups so I think I'm more than qualified to speak on South Africa's matters. I don't like racism but at the same time understand why it exists. Life in South Africa has been good for white people, until recently, life in South Africa for white South Africans has been comparable to first world countries while us black South Africans have waddled in misery & poverty. When many white South Africans still dream of the old days when b

Democracy

Foreword : The highest form of authority from my point of view is the individual because you only listen to laws & authority because you yourself choose to. Even if there are consequences for disobeying laws, these consequences themselves can be thwarted by actions of the individual. So, for me, individuals are the highest form of authority & individuals form a land & the greatest group of those individuals decide the outcome of a land. This is what I assume democracy is.  We've seen many elections around the world & here in Africa most of them have some controversy like missing ballot boxes, ghost voters etc. This Greek invention of democracy does not seem to work most times in Africa being a people that were ruled by kings & chiefs. So how can we tweak it to suit Africans? Since the world has decided that majority rules is the best way to run a land, we can't exactly return to full absolute monarchy with all it's colourful benefits & flaws so we

What really is best for South Africa?

I've been a proud South African, I loved the diversity of this land & liked what everyone in this land brought to South Africa. What made me suspicious of the infrastructure of South Africa was frankly the appointment into presidency of Mr. Jacob Zuma. This was a man that was sort of villianized by the media when I was at varsity, I simply did not think he would be president & I was proved wrong when he became the second Zulu president of South Africa (the first with a full term in presidential office). The problem most people including myself had with Mr. J. G. Zuma back in 2009 was that he had lingering criminal charges & was frequently in court. My standards were much higher back then but I didn't see Msholozi as fit to be President of South Africa.  After accepting that this man from Nkandla who was imprisoned in Robben Island & fought for a democratic South Africa was going to be president, I began to question South Africa... hearing of Orania & a Cap

OFF TOPIC: Donald Trump, America's failure to understand sentiments/culture.

I've learnt a lot about politics in the past few years (since 2014). I now understand that populists & dictators are misunderstood by the West because of different cultures & customs of certain lands. I can see this as someone who is relatively familiar with the Usonian & English-speaking world.  Before you judge me as being sympathetic to tyrants, I think you must take time & research all these dictators the world hates so much. Hitler, Gaddafi, Idi Amin Dada etc. These were people that got into power because they believed that they could make a difference & make their nations great. Except for Hitler in Germany, many nations a decade or two after the dictator has fallen claim that they either miss the dictator or life was better under the dictator. Dictators are not made of steel, emotionless & heartless as the world would like to make us believe they are. So-called dictators are human, flesh & bone like you & I.  Mr. Donald Trump was the furthest
